2nd CFAC at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station
Sept 22, 2001

The 2nd CFAC was a huge show, but also a bittersweet event.  Occurring less than two weeks after the attack
on the Twin Towers, we considered cancelling.  However, after talking to many of our sponsors, club members,
and others in the community, it was felt that to cancel was admitting defeat.  As it turned out, this was by far
the largest and most memorable show of all!  In addition, this show brought out a lot of "firsts" for CFAC:

  • First time for on-site PSA Testing

  • First time for Crown Firecoach Enthusiasts to bring their fire engines

  • First live entertainment all day

  • First Giveaway Car (Corvette)

  • First (and last) year for open header contest!

  • 5 mile cruise lane up and down the runways

With the 9-11 attacks fresh in everyone's minds, the flag raising by the fire departments was a very moving event.
No one that was there working the show will forget the moment at 5AM when we received a call from the CHP telling us they would stop the show if we did not start bringing in the cars.  They were backed up several miles waiting to get in!  With over 5,000 vehicles, this was by all accounts the world's largest one day car charity show!
Now a fixture and a primary reason for attendance at the show, 2001 marked the first time free PSA Tests were offered.
We had over 200 vendors at the 2001 show.  This was the first time we had major sponsorship, including Meguiar's, our first and still #1 sponsor.
Ross and Deb - probably still in shock at the size of the show! Casey Simpson became a regular contributor
to the show's entertainment.
Motorcycles, trucks and just about every kind
of car were represented!
Many car clubs came in mass to attend.
